Juicing

(Most recent posts will appear at the bottom!!)

Juicing is a way to extract much of the vegetable or fruit's nutrients without having to eat tons of raw food! Although juicing does separate the fiber away from the juices, it is an easy way to get all of the vitamins and minerals without having to chew and digest all of those raw veggies and fruit!

There is research, theory and controversy around whether or not raw veggies and fruits have more nutritional value … that’s for you to decide on your own! However, I like to incorporate lots and lots of raw foods into my diet (I like cooked food too, and think there is a place for both!) Juicing helps me to get that raw energy that I know that I want for myself!!

I recently purchased an Omega 8006 masticating single auger juicer.  It is so superior to my old-school centrifugal spinning juicer, which needed to be cleaned every few minutes in order for the machine to continue extracting juice.

This juicer is great! It gracefully juices most fruits and veggies, even leafy greens!! The juicer can also homogenize, so making banana whips or frozen fruit sorbet is easy! I recommend passing the homogenized frozen treats through the Omega twice to increase creaminess! I tried making raw almond butter, but it didn’t come out as well as it would have had I soaked the almonds in water over night!

This machine is simple to assemble and also very easy to clean.  The parts don’t need to be cleaned during juicing like a centrifugal juicer, and the parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe!

Overall, the Omega 8006 gets a 10 from me!!
